Work commences on the Goulburn River Solar Farm project
The DT Infrastructure team members have commenced early works to deliver the 585MWp solar farm for Lightsource bp.
Located in the Upper Hunter Region in NSW, the project is one of the largest solar farms under construction in the country, and when completed, will generate enough renewable energy to power the equivalent of approximately 225,000 homes.
Civil works started at the beginning of this year with construction activities underway to upgrade Wollara and Ringwood Roads. Pile testing has also commenced on site to determine the best methodology in laying the footings and foundations, for the eventual installation of nearly one million solar panels.
“It is crucial that we put our best foot forward during the startup phase of the project,” said Bill Carmichael – Project Director for DT Infrastructure.
“We are engaging local subcontractors and working closely with council and Transport for NSW on the road upgrades to ensure we realise the most benefit for all parties involved.”

“We are also very conscious of our project neighbours – the local community. We’ll closely consult with them, so they remain informed on planned and ongoing works. We have leased a shopfront in the local town of Merriwa where anyone will be able to come and speak with the project team.”
Along with information about the project and the various stages of delivery, the shopfront will also promote local job opportunities for those interested in getting more involved.
Keeping the momentum going
In the coming weeks the team will commence works on the upgrade of the Golden Highway and Ringwood Road intersection, as well as the intersection with Barnett Street. Works will continue to improve Wollara and Ringwood Roads.
The project team is proud of the progress to date and are looking forward to completing the road works for the next critical stage of the project.
