DT Infrastructure (DTI) is the principal contractor for Edify Energy on the Smoky Creek and Guthrie’s Gap project in Central Queensland, near Biloela, on the lands of the Gaangalu Nation People.
The power stations will comprise 720MWp of solar generation and a 600MW / 2,400MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), forming one of the most significant renewable energy developments currently under construction in Queensland.
Once operational, they are expected to generate up to 1,589,000MWh of renewable energy annually and remove over one million tonnes of CO2 annually.
The landmark project represents a significant milestone in Australia’s renewable energy transition and will supply reliable power to the regional network and supporting a long-term hybrid services agreement with Rio Tinto.
Scope
As the main Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor, DTI is responsible for delivering the core project scope, including:
- A 600MW AC connection, 720MWp solar farm.
- Constructing an integrated DC-DC coupled 600MW / 2,400MWh lithium-ion BESS.
- Delivering all civil works within the facility, including the site benching required to support the project’s transmission network service provider (TNSP), Powerlink.
- Constructing a new 33kV/275kV substation, including two 370MVA step-up power transformers.
- Installing, securing and integrating the solar panel modules onto solar tracking infrastructure.
- Delivering all the electrical infrastructure to integrate the facility and all temporary works.
- Installing fencing and site establishment infrastructure.
- Operating and maintaining the facility and its assets for two years.
