Timeline
Commenced 2025

The Goulburn River Solar Farm is a signature renewable energy project located in the Upper Hunter Region of New South Wales. This 585 megawatt-peak solar farm will generate approximately 1.3 million megawatt-hours (MWh) of renewable energy annually to power around 225,000 homes.

Currently under construction, this monumental project encompasses the construction of a 558MWdc capacity solar farm and a 49 MW/562 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), aimed at enhancing grid reliability and optimising energy distribution.

Delivered for Lightsource bp, DT Infrastructure is undertaking a comprehensive scope of works including civil, structural, and electrical infrastructure to install one million bifacial panels and 112 individual battery units to the grid.

When operational, the solar farm is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 910,000 tonnes annually, a significant step in decarbonising our economy and realising our goal of a clean energy future.

Scope
  • Installation of approximately one million bifacial solar panels on solar trackers, continually orienting them towards the sun.
  • Civil works for major upgrades to existing roads and internal access roads.
  • Development of electrical infrastructure to integrate the facility with the existing grid.
  • Construction of 49 MW/562 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) comprised of 112 individual battery units.
  • Construction of an additional transmission tower within the existing easement to connect the Goulburn River Solar Farm to the electricity network.
  • Installation of fencing and site protection infrastructure.
  • Development of a high-voltage substation bench, crucial for stepping up medium voltage from solar inverters to transmission levels, expanding the solar farm’s distribution capabilities.
