First test train hits the tracks on METRONET Thornlie-Cockburn Link
In a major milestone for Perth’s expanding rail network, the first test train has officially run on the METRONET Thornlie-Cockburn Link, one of the largest rail projects currently underway in Western Australia. This event marks a significant step towards delivering Western Australia’s first east-west rail connection, set to significantly enhance connectivity between the southern suburbs.
The test train journey is a vital phase in the project’s commissioning process, ensuring the new infrastructure operates safely and efficiently before passenger services commence. The successful operation of the test train confirms that track and power systems are functioning as intended, bringing the project closer to reality for thousands of commuters.
