DT Infrastructure (DTI) has been successfully awarded the contract by Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) to deliver the Mernda stabling yard extension.

The project will deliver additional stabling capacity at the site to meet future network needs.

DTI Chief Executive Officer, John Anderson, said this contract award highlights the company’s expertise in safely delivering complex upgrades in live environments.

“We are proud to partner with Metro Trains Melbourne to deliver this important capacity upgrade for passengers on the Mernda Line.”

As the state’s rail network undergoes a historic transformation under Victoria’s Big Build program, expanding stabling capacity is critical to maintaining seamless operations.

DTI Executive General Manager Rail, Paul Hawthorne, said DTI’s tailored delivery approach will enable the team to execute the expansion with minimal network disruption.

“Our methodology relies on a collaborative partnership with MTM to carefully stage works around a fully operational yard.”

“Our teams have the experience required to ensure we maximise productivity during the scheduled occupation, whilst minimising disruption to daily rail operations and the local community.”

DTI’s comprehensive scope encompasses extensive track and civil works, including bulk earthworks and track formation. The delivery will also integrate vital rail systems infrastructure, overhead wiring, signalling upgrades and site-wide modernisations such as new noise and security fencing, lighting and CCTV systems to ensure a safe, efficient facility.

Detailed design optimisation and preparatory works will continue immediately, with site works scheduled to commence later in 2026.
