DT Infrastructure (DTI) is proud to announce it has been awarded the TasRail contract for Year 3 of the South Line Track Works, as part of Tranche 4 of the Tasmanian Freight Rail Revitalisation Program (TFRRP).

Funded through the Australian Government’s Infrastructure Investment Program (IIP), the project will enhance the safety, reliability, and longevity of the South Line corridor, a vital artery for the state’s economy and essential services.

The award of the Year 3 works follows the high-performance delivery achieved by DTI during the previous project phase, where the DTI Rail team successfully renewed over 18.9 kilometres of rail and 9,000 sleepers between Epping Forest and Tea Tree.

DT Infrastructure track renewal in Tasmania, showcasing new concrete sleepers, e-clip fasteners, and fresh ballast.

DTI will implement a staged corridor renewal model to maintain freight continuity and ensure TasRail’s essential freight operations remain uninterrupted while the team advances long-term network resilience through re-railing, re-sleepering, culvert replacements, bridge baseplate renewals, and composite bearer replacements.

“This project is about more than just infrastructure maintenance; it is about supporting the economic heartbeat of Tasmania,” said DTI’s Executive General Manager Rail, Paul Hawthorne.

“By utilising our local Tasmanian staff and plant, we are ensuring that this investment stays within the community.”

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with TasRail and our team remains committed to delivering these critical upgrades with the same high standard of quality and safety that defined our success in the previous South Line Year 2 project.”

DTI is a trusted partner in the delivery of world-class rail infrastructure and renowned for delivering major rail upgrades within complex brownfield environments.

The project is scheduled to commence in late June 2026 with a target completion date in March 2027.
