DT Infrastructure (DTI) has been awarded the contract by Edify Energy to deliver the Smoky Creek and Guthrie’s Gap Solar Power Stations in Central Queensland.

Located near Biloela on the traditional lands of the Gaangalu Nation People, the landmark project represents a significant milestone in Australia’s renewable energy transition and further strengthens DTI’s growing position in the delivery of large-scale renewable energy infrastructure.

The power stations will comprise 720MWp of solar generation and a 600MW / 2,400MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), forming one of the most significant renewable energy developments currently under construction in Queensland. Once operational, it is expected to generate up to 1,589,000MWh of renewable energy annually, supplying reliable renewable power to the regional network and supporting a long-term energy supply agreement with Rio Tinto.

The project will utilise advanced DC-coupled hybrid configurations and grid-forming inverter technology designed to enhance network stability and support the integration of large-scale renewable energy into the grid, while contributing to Queensland’s broader emissions reduction objectives.

DT Infrastructure CEO, John Anderson, highlighted the project’s role in driving regional economic growth.

“We are proud to partner with Edify Energy on this landmark initiative. This project is not only a vital addition to our renewable energy pipeline but also a testament to our commitment to the sustainability of Queensland’s energy infrastructure,” said John.

“Once operational, the power stations aim to remove over one million tonnes of CO2 annually, which is something we are incredibly proud to be delivering for our communities and the environment.”

Ben Warne, CEO of Edify Energy, welcomed the appointment of DTI to the project:

“The appointment of DT Infrastructure marks an important step in bringing this project to life. As we move toward delivery it is critical to have partners with the technical capability, delivery experience and commitment to community outcomes that align with Edify’s ambition.”

“DT Infrastructure bring that capability, and we look forward to working together to deliver infrastructure that supports a reliable and sustainable energy future.”
