DT Infrastructure, as part of the TasVic Greenlink joint venture with Samsung C&T Corporation, has been selected as the preferred respondent to deliver the Balance of Works package for Stage 1 of Marinus Link.

Marinus Link is a proposed undersea and underground electricity and data interconnector between Tasmania and Victoria that will bolster energy security, promote renewable energy investment and deliver tangible benefits to consumers in Australia’s National Electricity Market.

The Balance of Works package is the final major construction tender for the first stage of the project and includes a comprehensive scope of civil, structural and electrical infrastructure.

Construction of Stage 1 will have significant benefits for local economies in both Tasmania and regional Victoria, supporting an additional 2,400 jobs per year at its peak.

DTI Chief Executive Officer, John Anderson, said the Marinus Link project is a hugely significant investment in the renewable energy sector for the region.

“We are excited to be delivering this monumental project in partnership with Samsung C&T Corporation. Through our combined expertise we are delivering a solution that ensures the continuing growth of the renewables sector, while connecting communities with low-cost clean energy,” he said.

“The Balance of Works package will boost local jobs and supply chains, while we work alongside communities to deliver infrastructure that leaves a lasting benefit.”

Scott Choi, Managing Director, Samsung C&T Corporation Australia said: “Samsung C&T is honoured to play a key role in this landmark project connecting Tasmania and Victoria. Leveraging our global HVDC expertise, we are committed to ensuring Marinus Link delivers lasting benefits and supports Australia’s clean energy transition. We are looking forward to collaborating in partnership with DTI on this exciting project”

Construction of Stage 1 of Marinus Link is expected to begin in 2026, pending final environmental and regulatory approval. Completion is expected in 2030.
