DT Infrastructure (DTI) hosted our second annual industry event – Circuit Breaker Sydney 2026!
This event brought together leaders and experts from across Australia’s renewable energy sector to discuss the country’s energy future. The evening created a great environment for networking, bringing professionals together to connect and explore how collaboration drives key renewables infrastructure.
Tom Perkin, General Manager of Strategy, was once again our host for the evening, welcoming guests and guiding the night’s topics.
In his opening remarks, Tom set the stage for the evening by introducing the key discussions on how capital and changing market conditions were shaping Australia’s energy sector, including the critical factors determining which projects progress from development into construction.
Keynote Speaker: Danish Aleemullah
Our keynote speaker, Danish Aleemullah, Executive Director and Head of Energy & Renewables at Macquarie Capital, delivered an insightful overview of the current landscape shaping the sector.
His presentation explored how capital, M&A activity and evolving market conditions were influencing the sector, while also detailing the key challenges currently affecting investment and project progression across Australia.
Following his address, Danish joined Emily Mulcair, Associate Director – Energy Advisory at Volta, and Sarah Lessing, Head of Legal DTI, for a lively panel discussion led by Tom.
Together, the panellists examined the shift from project announcement to financial close, exploring capital availability and what attracts investors to Australian renewables.
The discussion highlighted the key technical, commercial and legal attributes that define a bankable project. Crucially, the panel addressed how investors and lenders evaluate EPC contractors, balance sheet strength and integration capability, while offering actionable strategies for assessing developers and managing contractual risk.
“Hearing from the sector’s best and brightest reinforces our shared commitment to driving innovation and delivering impact across the renewable energy sector,” Tom said, reflecting on the panel and the evening’s conversations.
“These types of forums, where industry experts can come together and discuss the challenges and opportunities, in a relaxed setting, are one of the ways DTI is building stronger collaboration.”
