DT Infrastructure partners with Aula Energy to deliver Queensland’s newest wind farm
DT Infrastructure is delighted to be partnering with Macquarie Asset Management’s recently launched onshore renewable energy business, Aula Energy, to deliver early works for the Boulder Creek Wind Farm in central Queensland.
Announced today, the contract award includes detailed site investigations, design development and other ancillary works in preparation for Stage 1 of the project, which will consist of 38 turbines, have a generating capacity of 228 MW, and power approximately 115,000* homes.
Renewable energy represents a significant area of growth for DT Infrastructure, whose acquisition by Gamuda Berhad from Downer EDI in 2023 included a sizeable intellectual property portfolio, more than 1100 staff and extensive project delivery experience in partnership with Downer’s dedicated Power Systems business.
The wind farm represents the first major renewable project to be delivered under the Aula Energy and DT Infrastructure brands, with both businesses offering extensive experience delivering renewable projects nationally while part of Macquarie and Downer EDI respectively.
Commenting on a partnership with Aula Energy, DT Infrastructure Chief Executive Officer, Darren Crichton, said: “We’re excited by the opportunity to work with Aula to help deliver Boulder Creek as part of their planned project portfolio across Australia.
“It was great to mark the occasion with representatives from Aula Energy and our parent company, Gamuda, in Kuala Lumpur, and to come together to discuss the vision for Boulder Creek.
CEO of Aula Energy, Chad Hymas, said the contract with DT Infrastructure is significant for the company and marks an important milestone for its most advanced project and Queensland’s newest wind farm.
“I was thrilled to join Dato' Lin Yun Ling, Group Managing Director of Gamuda and senior executives in Kuala Lumpur to sign this first contract and cement our relationship.
“As a new player in the Australian renewable energy sector, we’re excited to be able to leverage the huge expertise of Gamuda in engineering and construction, together with an experienced constructor in DT Infrastructure.”
DT Infrastructure Chief Strategy and Growth Officer, Simon Bradbury, said the business was proud to be leveraging its capability in the renewables sector to deliver this exciting project in Queensland.
“The construction of Boulder Creek in central Queensland represents a significant step forward in the State’s renewable journey and presents exciting opportunities for local workforce development and engagement over the course of its delivery.”
Being headquartered in the state, we are looking forward to working with the local community to deliver a positive outcome for Aula and contribute to providing reliable power sources to the grid.”
The awarded works are being delivered in conjunction with MackPower, Ventia and GridLink.
